Size:

Good with:

Off-roading, Riding in Cars, Hiking, Couch Potato, High Energy Home, Adults?Teens, Experienced Dog Owner, Best as Only Pet

Personality:

Velcro-loyal, playful, smart, and observant. Water-loving, ball-chasing athlete. Confident with structure; not a dog-park dog. Great off-leash at the rescue with reliable recall.

Piper was part of Legacy Paws Rescue’s first big save—one of 11 dogs taken from an abandoned house where two mama dogs were co-parenting litters just 2–4 weeks old. Neighbors tried to keep the police away, but officers eventually seized the dogs and took them to a small animal control with no funding and no vet care. All 11 were very sick and crashing.

I brought them all in the same day and turned my home into a maternity ward. For more than two weeks it was round-the-clock care until everyone was finally stable and playful again. Piper grew up here—not in a kennel—doing dog puzzles, running on the big exercise wheel, splashing in the creek, and hiking our trails. As she’s matured, we’ve learned she’s a people-first, one-and-only kind of girl who bonds deeply with her person and is ready for a forever home that matches her heart.

Story:
Snuggle Style:

World-class cuddler; asks for a bedtime massage every night and loves belly rubs. Calm inside, affectionate, and respectful in the house.

Outings:

Jeep adventures and light off-roading, creek walks, hiking our trails, relaxed neighborhood walks. Prefers quiet spaces over busy dog scenes.

Favorite Things:

Tennis balls, water days, Jeep rides, training games for treats, bedtime massages, long naps after play.

Bedtime Routine:

Evening cuddle and gentle massage; settles easily and sleeps through the night. Can be left loose overnight; only chews her toys.

Communication Style:

Excellent eye contact and frequent check-ins; responds to hand target and recall; nudges or brings the ball to ask for play; calm body language indoors.

Medical:

Spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, on flea/heartworm prevention. Housebroken and crate trained. Healthy and ready to go.

The Right Dog?

Let’s be real — adopting isn’t about “picking the cutest.” It’s about finding the pup that actually fits YOUR chaos, quirks, and couch habits. That’s why I made a Dog Personality Quiz that matches you with one of our rescue dogs by archetype.

Think of it like online dating… but way less creepy, and you might actually get cuddles every night. Whether you’re after a Netflix-and-snack shadow, a Jeep-ride adventure buddy, or the clown who’ll keep you laughing, this quiz shows you which pup is basically already your soulmate.
