A Bump in the Road

As we continue our journey with Legacy Paws Rescue, we want to be transparent about the challenges we’ve faced along the way. After discovering an overwhelming stench upon opening the garage on the day we purchased the property, we braced ourselves for the worst. Thankfully, the smell wasn’t from a dead animal but rather from moisture that had seeped into the structure. While that was a relief, it was only the beginning of a series of revelations about the true condition of the house.

Unfortunately, a thorough inspection revealed devastating news: the house on the property is in far worse condition than we could have imagined. Repairs necessary to make it safe and inhabitable are extensive and costly, forcing us to put our project on hold while we work to address these urgent needs. The funding we had carefully set aside for building the foundation of Legacy Paws Rescue has been redirected toward making the house livable, creating an unexpected and significant setback.

While this news is difficult to share, we are determined not to let it deter us. Legacy Paws Rescue was built on the foundation of resilience, and just as we fight for second chances for animals, we will fight to overcome this hurdle. We are actively pursuing grants and other funding opportunities to get back on track and continue building the dream of a safe haven for animals and a place of healing for the community.
